Viewing Historical Spikes in Data

Viewing Historical Spikes in Data

The Topic Overview Page shows the past week of raw data for each topic in currently in your profile.  Because of this, you may notice a spike in data in either the Trend or Rate Graph and wish to investigate.  By hovering your cursor over the graph, you can view the exact time and date for that coordinate on the axis, as well as the documents/hour at that point in time.

If you wish to investigate further, click on the desired point in the graph to load a section of twenty-four hours of data for that topic at that point in history.  The data loaded will be twelve hours on each side of the point clicked.  For example, if you click on a point at 1pm (13:00) on the 3rd of March, the system will load data in that topic from 1am on the 3rd until 1am on the 4th.  The browser will redirect to the Historical View of the Live Feed Page of the topic for the historical twenty-four hours.  From there, you can investigate the documents in the Conversation Box and dive into the trending entities, hashtags, events, etc. in  the other widgets.

The Historical View of the Live Feed Page will not load all widgets when you first enter the page.  It will however, load the Volume Widget for that section of data, which in the historical view, loads a twenty-four hour span.  From this view, in order to look further into individual documents or widgets, click on a point in the Volume Widget to load an hour of data. The time you are viewing will be highlighted and marked on the Volume Widget and the other widgets on  the page will load the corresponding data.  To change which hour you are viewing, simply click another span on the Volume Widget to load the data.  While loading, a loading bar will appear in the bottom right of the page. Please wait for the data to load before filtering or manipulating graphs. The load time will depend on the volume of data aggregated during the chosen time period.
